Stacy Sample, lead phlebotomist in the Laboratory, was named Cass Regional Medical Center's Employee of the Quarter award for the third quarter of 2017. Chief Executive Officer Chris Lang made the announcement Wednesday, November 8, during a reception.
Sample, who has been a Cass Regional employee since 2004, was nominated by manager Terry Colombatto, MT (ASCP). She was selected as the Employee of the Quarter for positively representing Cass Regional’s mission and vision. The nomination letter described Sample as proactive, friendly and welcoming.
“Her organization skills are vital to the smooth running of our department and she is always looking for ways to improve,” Colombatto said. “She always has a patient-first outlook on our processes. She is efficient and has a pleasant demeanor with patients. She is always greeting them and conversing with them in a friendly, welcoming and professional way as she skillfully collects blood samples.”
Sample said getting to know the patients and their families on a personal level and making them feel comfortable in the hospital atmosphere is the best part of her job. She also said she gets to do a quality service for the people in the community and makes them feel like they have an extended family at Cass Regional.
“I was shocked and speechless to receive employee of the quarter. I never expected to receive the award and it is truly an honor,” Sample said.
Sample resides in rural Adrian and is married to Steve Sample. She has two children, Evie and Will. In her spare time, she likes spending time with her family, being outdoors, and Civil War reenacting.
As Employee of the Quarter, Sample received a paid day off, a designated parking space for the quarter, an Employee of the Quarter pin, an Employee of the Quarter crystal star award, a cake and balloons.
