Cass Regional Medical Center is now a Level III Trauma Center. Our highly qualified and experienced Emergency Department physicians are on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They are supported by a staff of nurses and technicians who are specially trained to provide emergency and trauma care. Helicopter and ground ambulance services are available to transport patients to other hospitals when the need arises. C. Catherine White, DO, serves as the medical director of the Emergency Department.
Cass Regional's Emergency Department staff is made up of registered nurses (RNs), certified nursing assistants (CNAs) and emergency medical technicians (EMTs). All staff members are required to be certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS). All RNs are also required to be certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and must complete the Trauma Nurse Core Course. The emergency department provides SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) services through a contractual agreement with Coversa. All emergency department nurses are certified in the ESI (Emergency Severity Index) Triage Course. The entire RN staff completed the National Institute of Health Stroke Scale Administration (NIHSS) course, which is a certification for scoring the severity of stroke. Staff members have completed the Emergency Management Institute training titles IS-100, 200, 700 and 800, which is the Incident Command System and National Incident Management for Disaster Preparedness.
