“About 80 percent of adults will have back pain in some part of their lives,” Dritley said. As it recurs over time, if they don’t strengthen the key muscles and learn the correct movement patterns, correct posture, etcetera, they develop chronic lower back pain and those are the people who really need to see a therapist.

"When football season comes, we see a lot of football injuries, anything from concussions to ACLs. Weekend warriors are more like overuse types of injuries sometimes, or they have rolled their ankle or something like that," Dr. Petersen said.
